coming soon: infrared hot yoga
The Bodymind Centre is pleased to announce that their Hot Yoga facilities will soon be enhanced with the addition of an infrared heating system! These heaters produce radiant heat, which means that it warms you up without warming the air in between, which makes it more tolerable than traditional heating methods. The infrared heat is absorbed by your body, heating you from the inside out. Additionally, infrared waves are absorbed more deeply into our systems than traditional forms of convection heat.
facts about Infrared Heat
- 80% of the light that makes it to Earth is infrared, making it a form of light that is easily processed by our bodies.
- Hospitals use infrared light to keep premature babies warm.
- Infrared heat penetrates further into fat and muscle for a far superior detoxification and for pain relief.
- Infrared heat requires up to 70% less energy to heat the same square footage as other forms of heating.
Health Benefits of Infrared Heat
- Detoxification: sweat produced by infrared heat contains approximately 20% toxins, compared to 3% in sweat produced by traditional forms of heat and exercise. This is a result of the deeper absorption of infrared waves by the body.
- Immune System Strengthening: because your body temperature is raised, infrared heat essentially causes an 'artificial fever,' which stimulates the immune system to fight off any harmful bacteria or virus cells present in your system.
- Pain Reduction: as a result of increased blood flow and deep penetrating heat, infrared heat naturally eases away joint and muscle pain.
- Improved Skin Appearance: by raising your body temperature and increasing circulation, infrared heat helps you produce more sweat, which in turn eliminates toxins, bacteria, and dead skin. Additionally, the deep penetration of the heat into cells breaks up cellulite into a water soluble substance, which can be eliminated through sweating.
