Yin tissue refers to the myofascial planes of the body, the ligaments, tendons, and bones. Yin Yoga is a quiet, contemplative practice that aims to gently stretch these connective tissues while stimulating the energy meridian channels in the body, facilitating the flow of 'Chi' or vitality. Yin postures are held for longer periods of time to allow the yin tissues to release and realign. The invitation is for stillness and surrender and leads to a journey through the emotional and physical landscapes held within the body. Calming music and thoughtful poetry readings may be incorporated to guide meditation and relaxation.
Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to a 'Yang' style or Hatha practice. It is accessible to all students regardless of experience level.
